These terms govern your use of SESIL, the Bible-reading and study app at sesil.net. By using SESIL you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Using SESIL
SESIL is free to use. You may read, study and create personal notes for your own non-commercial use. You agree not to misuse the service - for example, don't try to break, overload, scrape or reverse access controls; don't use it to break the law or infringe others' rights; and don't attempt to extract the licensed Scripture text beyond what the app shows you.
Your account
You can use SESIL without an account. If you create one, keep your sign-in details secure and use an email address you control; you're responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time from the account screen.
Your content
Your lenses, highlights, comments, chains and other notes are yours. By using sync you grant us only the limited permission needed to store, process and display that content back to you (and, where you choose to share a lens or add a friend, to the people you share it with). You're responsible for what you create and share, and for having the right to share it.
Scripture and third-party content
Bible translations and audio are owned by their respective publishers and provided under their licences. The ESV in particular is used under Crossway's API terms: it is for personal, non-commercial use, may not be re-published or translated, and you may not copy or download more than 500 verses or more than half of any one book. The other translations are either in the public domain (such as the King James Version) or used under open licences such as Creative Commons. Availability and changes
We're actively developing SESIL and may add, change or remove features, translations or voices at any time, and we can't guarantee uninterrupted availability. We'll try to avoid disruptive changes to your saved content, and you can always export a backup from the Lenses screen.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or remove access for accounts that abuse the service or break these terms. You may stop using SESIL and delete your account whenever you like.
No warranty
SESIL is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that it will be error-free, secure, or that content will always be accurate or available.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, SESIL and its operator aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data beyond what the law requires. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer or data-protection law.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we handle it, and forms part of these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Iceland, without affecting any mandatory protections of the country you live in.
Changes
We may update these terms; the date at the top reflects the latest version. Continuing to use SESIL after a change means you accept it.
